Candidates for a baccalaureate degree must fulfill the requirements for a major as listed in the courses of study bulletin. The courses of study bulletin is the official source of information regarding degree requirements, academic policies, and academic majors and minors at Trinity University.

Pathways Curriculum

Students must complete the Pathways Curriculum in order to receive a baccalaureate degree. The Pathways Curriculum has six curricular requirements, and three optional elements that provide the foundation in the liberal arts and sciences for all the bachelor’s degrees awarded by Trinity University. Through these requirements, students acquire the necessary skills and disciplinary perspectives to navigate complex questions at Trinity and in their post-graduate lives.
Design
Deal with 2-D and 3-D compositional problems, integrating the visual elements with aesthetic principles and an emphasis on creative solutions.
Drawing
Investigate the technical, conceptual, and aesthetic elements of drawing as they relate to the development of ideas.
Painting
Practice painting techniques and study issues in contemporary painting.
Art History through the Ages
Survey art and architecture across time, from prehistory and the late Middle Ages to the Renaissance and modern era.
Museum Studies
Study specific topics in the history, nature, and operation of the art museum.

Faculty
Scholars and artists share their expertise in diverse areas of study and practice
Trinity Art faculty help students develop their creative expressions employing specialized methods and materials. Art History faculty refine students’ critical understanding through expert analysis of the art of Mesopotamia, late Medieval and Renaissance art, nineteenth- and twentieth-century painting and photography, Latin American art, and architectural history.

The art and art history programs make full use of San Antonio’s rich cultural resources. Students routinely work in local museums and galleries.
The Michael and Noémi Neidorff Art Gallery serves the Trinity University by presenting dynamic programs of exhibitions, lectures, and events.
The Stieren Arts Enrichment Series brings distinguished artists and art historians to campus to lecture and show their work.
Honors may be awarded to those students who complete a thesis during the senior year.
